I dream of Bali… Sanur Kite Festival

I dream of Bali… Sanur Kite Festival

Have you witnessed this amazing festival? It happens in the windy season (July/Aug but sometimes Oct) just north of Sanur in a village called Padanggalak. Hundreds of teams from all over Bali come to compete & the spectacle looks like so much fun.

The traditional kites are huge & can take months & months to skilfully craft. This festival started as a way the ever thoughtful Balinese could give thanks to the Gods who looked over their crops but these days it has become quite the competition amongst the local banjars with prize money up for grabs.

I dream of Bali… My personal Bucket List of the Bali gems I’ve always wanted to explore but haven’t as yet & hope to include in my upcoming trips. Many thanks to the generous & talented contributors to this series. I hope you enjoy!
